MONI 1

Moni got into her car without thinking twice. Her hands were shaking and unsteady as she inserted the keys into the ignition. She wanted to scream and cry but something told her to drive off. She couldn't yell in the car park of the multinational company that had just fired her and certainly she couldn't go home. She had no home anymore. Not after she discovered the previous night that her husband had birthed two children with another woman while she had been waiting for the fruit of the womb. She had no one else to turn to, everyone had failed her including the company she had worked tirelessly for in the past ten years that suddenly decided to lay her off for no apparent reason.

Moni continued to drive on the highway, she was numb on the inside. Her whole world seemed to be crashing before her very eyes. She thought of committing suicide, putting an end to everything. After all, there was no one or nothing else to live for. She drove for six straight hours into different states and only came to an halt when her fuel guage gave her the sign that the car was running out of petrol. It was already dark and it seemed she was in the middle of nowhere. She began to think of how foolish she must have been to run away. Here she was, surrounded by trees and a tarred highway that seemed to lead nowhere. She dug into her purse to find her mobile phone but couldn't until she remembered she had flung it out of her office window moments after she read her retrenchment letter.

Moni began to cry. The tears were uncontrollable as mucor ran down her nostrils. She had been defeated. She was a nobody and nobody cared. She wanted to take her own life but didn't know how to. She turned off her rear lights and got out of her car. She checked her watch, it was 7:45pm and she was in the middle of nowhere. She wanted to pee so badly so she moved to the back of the car and bent down to ease herself. The release of long stored urine from her privates and it's trickling sound gave her some ease and brought her back to her senses. What was she doing? She could always get another job and even though she was 35 years old she could always marry someone else and have kids or at most adopt a child.

With these encouraging thoughts, Moni got up from squatting. She made up her mind to sleep in her car and get some help first thing in the morning. She got into her car and turned on the ignition so she could park properly. The rear lights shone brightly and right before her eyes she saw a dark woman with dirty rags wrapped around her body, banana peels were used to decorate her hair and her front tooth shooting out of her mouth. The woman was obviously mad. Mad but with a gun in her hand pointed towards Moni. Without warning, moni felt the warm feeling of urine trickling down from her laps to the car seat. Whoever thought one could pee two minutes apart.

Find out what happens next Sunday!
