The Escape: 3

Tola was mystified as she took another look at Bongo and the dead body of Grand building's landlord not too far away. It was so obvious he had something to do with her mother's death,her daughters rape and also the dead body lying on the ground. She couldn't believe her eyes nor all that had happened within an hour. 

She had earlier on ran for her life using the stairway straight from the 18th floor. On getting to the 4th floor,the lights had come on and she heard the muffled scream of her daughter lily. She hurried towards her daughters attacker with a flower vase beside the wall and hit it on his head while she told her daughter to run. At that point Tola knew she would never forgive herself if any of what was happening was her fault. She grabbed the gun on his waist as he lay motionless on the floor and kept running to meet up with lily wherever she was.

Lily was nowhere to be found so Tola rushed towards the garage to check if she was there. Her poor baby had just been molested right before her eyes and the thought of it alone was something no mother should ever experience. 

She wished it was all a dream but it wasn't as she stood right in front of Bongo the man who was the father to her child. 
As she pointed the gun towards Bongo,she didn't know whether to shoot him or not. Bongo carried lily who was now a bit conscious from his car and tried to reach for the gun in Tola's hands "Tola" he said "I know you would never forgive me but please for the sake of our child spare my life and I promise to make it up to you" 

He motioned to his accomplice,Joe's partner who was also called Anaconda to bring a red box from the boot of his car. The box contained 75,000dollars and he handed it over to Tola. 
Tola was shaking by now and hurriedly grabbed her daughter from him. She didn't know what step to take. Her daughter didn't deserve a man like this in her life and neither did she. Her mind was made up.

As Tola tried to locate the trigger of the gun in her right hand, Anaconda rushed towards Tola and yanked the gun from her. Surprisingly he pointed the gun towards Bongo and said 
"Please let me do the honours. This man killed my family members right in my presence 20 years ago and I've been waiting for the perfect moment to blow his brains out,so take your child and leave immediately if you don't want to die with him". 

Bongo was shocked beyond reason,his own accomplice had betrayed him and was right there pointing a gun to his forehead.
 Tola who was too petrified carried her daughter in her arms and also the red box and gently walked away from the garage as instructed,she felt like she was going to faint with hunger but she had her daughter in her arms and money in her hands. She didn't know what the next hour had in stock for her but she certainly knew that a part of her life was over. As she got to the basement of the building,the cool breeze of the evening hit her face and all wat she could hear were gunshots from distance not too far off. A distance she walked away from few minutes ago.

City Girl in F.C.T

I had coined this name for myself a couple of months back. Cheesy yet cool. I like to pride myself in being a Lagos girl. I will shout it to the rooftop and tell it on the mountains. The best place to be in the world is Lagos, Nigeria. Maybe, someday, I will write about that. But today’s article is different.
